The Natural Lash Cycle
Lash extensions are applied directly to your natural lashes, which means they shed along with your natural growth cycle. On average, a natural lash will last
6–8 weeks, but since each lash is at a different stage in its cycle, you’ll notice gradual shedding over time.
Fill Appointments
To maintain fullness, most clients schedule fills every 1, 2, or 3 weeks. Waiting longer than 4 weeks often means too many extensions have shed, and a new full set may be required instead of a fill. As a rule of thumb, you must have at least 40–50% of your extensions remaining for the service to be considered a fill.
Fill appointments can take 45–60 minutes to complete
A Full Set can be anywhere between 2–3 hours to complete.
Factors That Affect Retention
Several factors influence how long lash extensions last:
Lash Hygiene – Keeping lashes clean which helps them last longer. Products Used – Oil-based skincare and makeup can break down adhesive and shorten retention. Personal Preference – Some clients choose fills more frequently to maintain a consistently full look.
With proper aftercare and regular fills, lash extensions can look beautiful and full for weeks at a time. Whether you prefer a subtle enhancement or a bold, dramatic look, scheduling your fills consistently will help keep your lashes looking their best.
